As you are reading these lines, the insurance market goes trough a consolidation stage, which means selecting the insurance companies that can offer car and motorcycle insurance quotes.

After the amendment of new European directive for equality, many women drivers now need to compare car insurance quotes to get cheap insurance deal. The bid battle for Lloyd’s of London insurer Omega Insurance heated up yesterday as Barbican Insurance increased its takeover offer.

Barbican has structured its offer as a reverse takeover via an all-share deal. The group appealed to Omega’s shareholders, saying it gave them the chance to participate in the enlarged group.

The offer is worth 84p per share, outflanking the 83p-per share offers tabled by Canopius Group and Haverford Bermuda.

Espirito Santo said in a research note: “The price and terms look to be a good mixture of the terms offered by the current bids on the table from Haverford Group and fellow private Lloyds syndicate Canopius.”

The business is estimated to be worth £3bn a year, and successful claims are paid in most cases by insurance policies. Insurers have covered the cost by passing it on to policyholders in the form of higher premiums.

Justice minister Jonathan Djanogly said: “Honest motorists are seeing their premiums hiked up as insurance companies cover the increasing costs of more and more compensation claims. Many Read full article…

You know its a slow week when the traffic cops go after the Amish, but thats what happened earlier this summer: nine Kentucky men who are members of the extremely conservative Amish sect the Old Order Swartzentruber refused to display orange reflective triangles on their horse-drawn buggies.

They were fined for a safety violation, but subsequently refused to pay the court-ordered fines, claiming that to do so would be the same as obeying a law they believe is in opposition to their religious strictures. Their reason for not displaying the reflective symbol is that the bright orange color was against their rules of modesty.
